The need for the Minister for Foreign Affairs to ensure Ireland and the European Union do everything they can to pressurise Israel to stop its air, sea and land attacks on Gaza which it is doing to put pressure on Hamas to stop its rocket attacks on Israel and to push for proper negotiations towards a just and viable peace in the region, with an end to Israel's illegal occupation of Palestine and with a viable two-state solution.
I regard the matters raised by the Senators as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected the matters raised by Senators Michael D'Arcy, Martin Conway, Thomas Byrne and Diarmuid Wilson and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senators Mark Daly, Mary Ann O'Brien, Mary Moran and Averil Power may give notice on another day of the matters they wish to raise.
