How are we to charge for water when people cannot drink it? Meters are being installed in houses in Boyle where people have to boil water and also in Castlerea where the water is unsafe to drink. An interim plant has been put in place in Roscommon town through the work of local councillors who have been very active on the ground. They were successful in having the interim plant put in place in the town which has relieved the pressure. Approximately 19,000 people do not have a supply of drinkable water. What is going on is a scandal. I sympathise with Labour Party Senators, although I do not feel all that sorry for them. When they call to doors, they run away, as from reports I have received I understand they are getting a very bad reception on the doorstep. The fact that the Government has gerrymandered constituencies such that it will have all of the seats on the eastern coast will ensure it will have some survivors.
