The judicial appointments review committee pointed out that there have been seven adverse changes since 2008 to the pay and pension provisions of members of the Judiciary. That may be why so many of these learned judges are due to retire by a certain date, which is sad. One who comes to mind is Mr. Justice Peter Kelly. He has been such a stalwart in how he has cleared his desk and operates. There are others, of course. It will be a sad day for the country that we will lose so many in such a short space of time, resulting in so many inexperienced judges on the benches in the near future.
