I do not think there is any issue with that. I do not join in the rants that many others have had against Sinn Féin, much as I might feel the need to do so but that is going off the point. When debating issues about the incomes of Senators and Deputies, we must be careful not to descend to a lowest common denominator. There is a point at which people can no longer afford to go into politics if they cannot obtain a decent salary. One has to be mindful of that. There is also the point, as others have said, that Senators do not have geographic constituencies.
