Reform of the Television Licence Fee Model: Motion [Private Members] (13 Feb 2024)

Seán Crowe: No one would argue that the current situation and the institutional culture in RTÉ are healthy, acceptable or sustainable. The deficit in TV licence revenue last year indicates that some 120,000 people have chosen not to renew their licence. I cannot blame them. Financial scandals at RTÉ rocked people's trust and confidence in the national broadcaster and the television licence...

Seán Crowe: ...trained up to come into the system, there will be challenges in future. The positive message we heard from Magee was there was capacity in its system. The pattern is, and all the information indicates, that if people are trained in the general area, they normally stay in that system. Joint Oireachtas Committee on Health: Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services: Families for Reform of CAMHS (17 Jan 2024)

Seán Crowe: Yes. If we stay silent on an issue, how are people to know there is a problem there? Last of all, the group's survey says one in nine people accesses services through a TD. That is an indication the system does not work because TDs are not the way for people to get medical supports or assessments. It is wrong the system relies on TDs and that needs to change as well. It should happen...

Respite Care Services: Motion [Private Members] (30 May 2023)

Seán Crowe: ...doing enough? What is causing the blockages? We have an opportunity coming up with the next budget, but families are saying they are burnt out. A survey referenced in the MS Ireland submission indicates 64% are emotionally drained, 32% experienced depression and 22% have lost a job due to caregiving responsibilities.
