Holly Cairns: The ombudsman's report highlighted systematic faults in the direct provision system. Ceisteanna Eile - Other Questions: Direct Provision System (4 Jul 2023)

Catherine Connolly: I wish to follow up on a previous question about direct provision. I ask that question given the long history that we are very familiar with in direct provision.

Seanad: Commencement Matters: Direct Provision System (27 Jun 2018)

Maire Devine: I know the Minister of State cares about these issues. It is apt that we raise these issues during what we consider Pride week. There is nothing proud about direct provision. I will call it incarceration. I will not call it what the Minister of State would like me to call it, which would dilute what it really is. The Minister of State is asking LGBTI people in direct provision to become...

Ceisteanna Eile - Other Questions: Direct Provision System (29 Feb 2024)

John Brady: We need a fair, efficient and enforced immigration system. On the Government's watch, it has failed on all three of those counts and probably no more so than with the failure to tackle the issue of direct provision in a policy that was laid out in 2020. There has been some chatter and commentary about a revision of the ending of direct relation. In November, it was said that a memorandum...

Services for those Seeking Protection in Ireland: Statements (30 Jan 2024)

Catherine Connolly: ...a few words on this matter. Background is always very helpful. When we talk about droves of people coming into the country, that is not accurate. We have a total of just under 26,000 people in direct provision. I hope I have a chance to come back to the inhuman, unacceptable direct provision we were supposed to finish a long time ago.
