The question is what the cost would be to the Exchequer. We are not a car manufacturing nation. We do not make tyres either. We might make some components for cars but on a minimal basis. The car industry is not indigenous to us in the same way as it is in Great Britain, France, Germany, the United States and Italy, among others. I accept that it would be a cheaper product for the consumer, but what would the benefit be to the Exchequer?
